We have being on different medications with Phenobarbital
being number one on the list. By the year 2004 keppra was added making
2 medications at a time and still not seizure free. For
those that loved us, we were always told Phenobarbital was not too
good for a child to be on and when we tell the neurologists of our
concerns the response is we have a choice to not use the medication or
let our child have seizures. The second on the lists
was Keppra making 2 medications at a time, reason why we were placed
on Keppra was because of another kind of seizure that was experienced
and we were told only two medications had to take care of this. One
thing or the other happened that we had being placed on other
medications to replace Keppra but still making 2 medications at a
time. Currently we are using phenobarbital & Trileptal.
Other medications that have being tried to replace Keppra are Zonegram,
Dekapote & Topomax. Lorazepam or Diastat we
were advised is good to use when having cluster seizures.
